For Transgender Clients

KarenBrown has been specialising in TG hair removal for over 15 years and has seen and supported many satisfied clients through the process of complete permanent beard removal as well as preparation of the surgical sight for reassignment surgery.   Hair removal for the surgical site is usually discussed during the initial surgeon’s consultation and will need to commence preferably a minimum of 12/18 months before surgery.

There will also need to be a 3-4 month break after the last session of electrolysis to assess the area and ensure total eradication of required hairs.  Whilst hair removal is not a prerequisite to surgery, it cannot be performed post-operatively.

Transgender clients who are not aware of electrolysis often choose IPL or Laser hair removal with its prospects of quick, progressive permanent results, and for some acceptable results can be achieved depending on hair and skin colour.  However, for the majority, there will be a residue of hair growth (finer or white hairs) that will remain and can only be treated with electrolysis.  Unfortunately, many TG clients can waste large sums of money and time before realising the necessity for electrolysis.

Electrolysis can be a lengthy process and takes dedication and commitment but with appropriate consultations and an individual treatment plan treatment can be tailored to suit individual needs to ensure the goals of the TG client are achieved.
